Al Gore’s not going down without a fight

Al Gore's Hearing on Global Warming

Al Gore writes in his op-ed on the NYT on 2/27/10:

It is true that the climate panel published a flawed overestimate of the melting rate of debris-covered glaciers in the Himalayas, and used information about the Netherlands provided to it by the government, which was later found to be partly inaccurate. In addition, e-mail messages stolen from the University of East Anglia in Britain showed that scientists besieged by an onslaught of hostile, make-work demands from climate skeptics may not have adequately followed the requirements of the British freedom of information law.

But the scientific enterprise will never be completely free of mistakes. What is important is that the overwhelming consensus on global warming remains unchanged. It is also worth noting that the panel’s scientists — acting in good faith on the best information then available to them — probably underestimated the range of sea-level rise in this century, the speed with which the Arctic ice cap is disappearing and the speed with which some of the large glacial flows in Antarctica and Greenland are melting and racing to the sea.

Because these and other effects of global warming are distributed globally, they are difficult to identify and interpret in any particular location. For example, January was seen as unusually cold in much of the United States. Yet from a global perspective, it was the second-hottest January since surface temperatures were first measured 130 years ago.

Similarly, even though climate deniers have speciously argued for several years that there has been no warming in the last decade, scientists confirmed last month that the last 10 years were the hottest decade since modern records have been kept.

The only problem is that his comments and “facts” don’t jive with the head of the East Anglia Climate Research Unit, Phil Jones. On 3/2/10, Prof Phil Jones states it was not standard practice to release data from scientific studies. As quoted in an AFP article on 3/2/2010,

But Phil Jones, of the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit, defended Monday his decision not to release the data about temperatures from around the world, saying it was not “standard practice” to do so.

This is garbage. The basis of scientific method is to release the data to be peer reviewed and the experiments repeated under the same conditions with the same results.

Also, in reference to fabricated data:

Sceptics claimed they showed evidence scientists were manipulating climate data in a bid to exaggerate the case for manmade global warming as world leaders met to try and strike a new accord on climate change.

Jones — who has said the fallout from the affair prompted him to consider suicide — had referred in one private email to a “trick” being employed to massage temperature statistics to “hide the decline”.

He has since insisted the emails had been taken out of context and labelled allegations that he sought to exaggerate warming evidence as “complete rubbish.”

On Mar 1st, 2010, British Parliament cross-examined researchers about the stolen emails and the questionable research practices. Quotes are from an AP article

The academics were questioned by lawmakers because a cache of emails stolen from the research centre and leaked online last year appeared to show that scientists stonewalled climate skeptics, tried to pervert the scientific peer review process, and discussed ways to dodge Freedom of Information requests.

Questioned Monday by parliament’s science committee on why the centre did not make its raw climate data and methodology public, former UEA climate researcher Phil Jones said the data was withheld because it wasn’t “standard practice” to release it.

“The emails reveal doubts as to the reliability of some of the (temperature) reconstructions and raise questions as to the way in which they have been represented,” the Institute of Physics said.

In fact, Phil Jone’s credibility, as well as East Anglia’s CRU’s reputation has been damaged so badly, Philsy stepped down as the director of the CRU. And, as previously reported , Philsy has admitted that there has been no ’statistically significant warming” in the past 15 years.

So in other words, global warming is all bunk, directly from the hore’s mouth.

Now, if you do what the Dems typically start screaming as soon as something happens that they weren’t asked about prior to it happeneing, “Who knew what, when and where?” and also “Follwo the money.”

Let’s look at who knew what and when. Al Gore has known this for quite some time. He has known this was a fraud since before he was elected VP.

Let’s follow the money. How much has Gore made since he became VP? How much has his wealth increased since then? Who does he work for?

His electric bills for his house in TN for one month are more than those of most people for an entire year.

This is Al Gore, the Nobel Prize winner for global warming, and former VP of the US, under Bill Clinton. This is the inventor of the Internet. Who’s full of bull now?
